Slade called the meeting to order

Jeff Maurer was not present. Linda Carpenter presented the Treasurer’s Report in his absence.

Pending expense is $50.00 for 10 Books - Beekeeping Basics

Linda asked Chip to report on the meeting he and Slade had regarding the Solar Farm Project (Aditya Solar Farm). Chip reported that he and Slade had a dinner meeting with the representatives working on the Solar Farm project. He said it was very nice. Chip said that he learned that DEQ requires bees to be on the yard of a solar farm. The neighbors of the proposed solar farm were there too and some of them have bees and all for it. He reported that he and Slade are working on getting a supply list together to present in the Fall. It is anticipated that we will have bees on the solar farm property next Spring. This is a great opportunity for the club. Chip reported that there is another property which is a 1000 acre track that the county owns which has been approved for a solar farm. This may be another opportunity for the club.

Linda reported that the first session of Beginning Beekeeping class went well. There was good attendance and everyone was attentive and asked questions afterwards.

We had an open discussion about what is going on in the hives, the weather, what to request to plant at the solar farm for the bees, different types of hives available and problems various folks were having. Linda and Chip shared the situation they were working on at the Drive Shack regarding the bees in the wall and the various ideas as to how to help them and/or what to recommend.

We had 2 folks renew membership tonight!
