Monthly Meeting Notes - September 18, 2018

Opening
The regular meeting of the Apple Grove Beekeepers Association was called to order at 7:05 pm on 9-18-18 in CVAG meeting room by Dennis Conrad.

Treasurer’s Report
Submitted by John Beers and attached, dated 9-18-18, noting that our new PayPal account charges a small fee ($1.43)
General Business
Tshirt order – Tshirts were distributed for those that ordered.
Doug Anderson and Keith White spoke to the group about their new business “Honey and the Hive”, a mobile bee supply. They are a Brushy Mountain distributor and can also provide custom items. Business cards were distributed.

Topics discussed:
- Mite Counts and Treatment:
Discussed various ways to collect bees for alcohol wash. Nurse bees are the ones to be collected to test.
John Beers suggested checking manufacturers Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for each type of varroa mite treatment, as there are variable conditions that are not necessarily covered in the general treatment directions. (eg.: nuc, weak hive, vapors, etc.) ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL.
